Cambridge Network Reports Demand for In-house Courses as Businesses Choose to Upskill Staff

Ali Wilson, Head of Service Delivery, says she has received requests for 20 in-house courses in the past two months alone, for a diverse range of subjects.

"While we are arranging many of these to take place locally for Cambridge companies, we have also been asked to send trainers abroad to deliver all kinds of different courses. Some of these are for things like presentation skills and project management, while others focus on technical topics like ScrumMaster. We are also often approached for HR-related courses, such as career development or coaching, or for cross-cultural training or people management."

"The most unusual request recently was for FIRO-B training, which was new to us. It stands for Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation–Behaviour (FIRO-B) – a kind of psychometric assessment technique – and although we weren't familiar with it, we still managed to identify a qualified trainer to deliver for us!"

In the ten or so years since the Learning Collaboration was established, it has run courses for Cambridge Network members across the UK and Europe, and as far afield as California, USA. "Whatever our members ask for, and wherever they need the training to take place, we make sure we can accommodate them," says Ali.

In-house courses are usually tailored to the requirements of a specific business or industry sector, she adds, so companies can ensure that the training meets their organisation’s needs.

Such courses take place in addition to the Learning Collaboration's open calendar, which offers the full spectrum of courses from personal development and soft skills training to management development, specialist technical, finance and HR subjects.
