Determining your own IP strategy to balance protection with budget is one challenge for companies in the Life Sciences field. In a sector driven by deal making, Pharma partnering, investment rounds and M&A the challenge of establishing freedom to operate around your IP can be an added dimension.

Securing freedom to operate may then involve strategic decisions like to deal or not to deal with any third parties that potentially block your path ahead of potential licensees or acquirers of your IP entering due diligence.
