Date:
18 March

Time: 18.00-20.30

Location: Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport, Waltham Close, London Stansted Airport, Essex, CM24 1PP

Context:

Getting clinical research projects started in the NHS has always been highlighted as one of the challenges facing industry in the UK. No matter how good it gets, it may always be seen as an area in which we would all like it to be better – for patients, healthcare providers, industry R&D and their investors.

The HRA was established in December 2011 to protect and promote the interests of patients and the public in health research, and to streamline the regulation of research. Many members of the public want the opportunity to participate in research. HRA’s role is to make sure that health research involving them is ethically reviewed and approved, that people are provided with the information they need to help them decide whether they wish to take part, and that their opportunity to do so is maximised by simplifying the processes by which high quality research is assessed.

Complementing the above theme around enabling businesses to succeed, the evening will also provide an update on progress at the Harlow Enterprise Zone and how Stansted Airport plans to play a critical role in opening up international trade, leading into a discussion around how more inward investment can be attracted to the region given many of the pieces of the jigsaw to support life science companies are in place.
