Future Directions in Oncology

Globally cancer is a leading cause of mortality. In 2012, there were an estimated 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer-related deaths, as well as 32.6 million people living with cancer (within 5 years of diagnosis). Over the next twenty years the number of cases is expected to increase by around 70%. Despite improvements in the early diagnosis and treatment of various cancers, a large cancer burden remains and thus provides a significant incentive to address this challenge via innovative treatments and preventative approaches.

After an introduction to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and the London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC), the speakers at this event will present on recent advances in their respective research strategies.
