Dependent on Experience
Cancer Research Technology (CRT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cancer Research UK, is a vibrant drug discovery and commercialisation company which aims to advance new discoveries to beat cancer. To help achieve this goal CRT has its own drug discovery laboratories, CRT Discovery Laboratory (CRT-DL), based at locations in Central London and Cambridge.
CRT-DL is dedicated to helping cancer patients through establishing and prosecuting theme-based alliances with industry. We collaborate with the academic community and our commercial partners to discover and develop novel cancer therapies. Our pioneering model has already resulted in cancer drug discovery alliances with major international partners including AstraZeneca, Forma Therapeutics and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
We are recruiting for a laboratory-based Associate Scientist/Scientist to work within CRT-DL’s Discovery Bioscience screening and compound profiling team.
This position will focus on preparation and distribution of compound/sample from our collection and would suit an HNC/HND/BSc graduate in chemistry, biochemistry or a related life science. Some experience of compound/sample management in a Drug Discovery setting, with a good understanding of the technical liabilities of storing and handling liquid samples is essential. Experience with liquid handling and automation particularly using Beckman, PerkinElmer, Labcyte instruments will be an advantage.
The successful applicant will form an integral part of the CRT-DL team working alongside our industry and academic partners to progress novel cancer targets towards patient benefit. The role requires a strong team player with excellent communication skills and an ability to interact internally with multi-disciplinary project teams, as well as externally with our collaborators. Strong organisation skills and attention to detail are required to deliver on project goals and deadlines.
The position will be based at our Cambridgeshire Site, located at the Babraham Research Campus.
Closing date: 7th April
