Experienced Molecular Biologist-Cell Line Development

Laboratory Solutions are working on behalf of an emerging US Immuno-oncology company that are heavily investing in their new site in Cambridge.They are looking to hire an experienced Molecular Biologist to join their CLD department.

As a Molecular Biologist and Stable Cell Line Development scientist within the Cell Line Development team you will contribute to advancing innovative technologies and CLD projects to support the generation of therapeutic biologics.
  • Conduct stable cell line development projects including planning, designing of expression vectors and partial execution.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Project Teams for early and late-stage projects.
  • Liaise and coordinate CLD projects with Process Development and Process Analytical groups.
  • Author and review documents in support of regulatory filings from IND/CTA to BLA.
  • Develop, evaluate, optimize and implement novel technologies, methods and third party technology for process improvement.
  • Write Working Instructions, technical reports and mentor junior staff.
  • Preparation of publications, presentations, regulatory documents, patents.
  • Liaise closely with collaborators and sites globally, maintain clear and efficient communication.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug, GxP compliance, where applicable.
  • PhD (or MSc with 3-5 years of relevant experience) in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or related discipline

  • Good molecular biology skills (PCR, vector construction, Northern blot) 
  • Practical knowledge of working with mammalian cell culture techniques (suspension and adherent cells) in various scales, from multi-wells to small scale bioreactors
  • Experience in developing stable cell lines (transfections, selection of clones, cryopreservation, clonality) 
  • Experience with automation in cell culture and product analysis (FACS, Octet, Biacore) is highly desirable
  • Experience in an industrial setting is preferable
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent communication skills with presentation of work and data as well as sharing experience with others
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory experiments or method development
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to manage several projects/cell lines simultaneously and to adjust to changing priorities
  • Excellent analytical skills and capacity to analyze large amount of data, good attention to details
  • Able to supervise and mentor scientific staff as well as communicate effectively to senior management.
