An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, committed and talented individual to join Arecor to lead Business Development strategy development and execution.

Arecor Ltd ( is a leader in developing superior biopharmaceuticals through the application of an innovative formulation technology platform. Arecor is currently leveraging this platform to develop a portfolio of proprietary products that will enable improved treatments for diabetes via the innovative reformulation of approved proteins and peptides.  Arecor also partners with leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies under a technology licensing model to deliver superior reformulations of their proprietary products, which would otherwise not be possible using conventional formulation science. 

Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Business Development will be primarily responsible for driving Arecor’s commercial growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing business development strategy and translating the overall commercial strategy into tactical plans creating significant growth in value for Arecor by delivering (a) revenue-generating collaborations, partnerships and licensing transactions from its technology platform and established pharma relationships and (b) major licensing and partnership deals from Arecor’s internal proprietary diabetes product portfolio.

Minimum Requirements
  • Masters of Business Administration and/or graduate degree or PhD in life sciences
  • 8 years+ of pharmaceutical/biotech experience in business development and licensing or alliance management, or significant product development experience with >4years recent experience in business development and/or alliance management

Critical Skills
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and preferably biopharmaceutical R&D
  • Demonstrated track record of building partnerships, managing alliances and closing significant transactions within prior biotech/pharma positions
  • Experience in the Diabetes market would be an advantage
  • Ability to function autonomously as well as within a team environment and drive strategic decisions while also executing deals from start-to-finish
  • Excellent communication skills with the demonstrated ability to make effective presentations to a broad range of audiences, from Board Director level through to a variety of senior level external stakeholders as well as to relevant scientific audiences
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency with the desire to “make things happen”
  • Mature, self-motivated and resilient, ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
  • Team player who is comfortable exerting leadership through strong influencing skills
  • Energetic, resourceful self-starter with high integrity, strong executive presence and the ability to effectively navigate dynamic, multi-faceted relationships
  • Outstanding business instincts and sound business judgment to reduce complex challenges into actionable, value-creating results and solutions
