Upstream Process Development Scientist

Agenda Life Sciences are seeking an Upstream Process Development Scientist to join a fast-growing Oxford-based biotech. As experts in DNA design, this company are seeking an experienced individual to aid them in developing new biological systems to push the boundaries of genetic research. With the latest equipment and purpose-built facilities, this company are meeting and exceeding their goals and targets. This is a great chance to join a fantastic organisation within the rapidly emerging field of Synthetic Biology.

Basic Requirements:
  • PhD or DPhil in a relevant field
  • Upstream process implantation experience including; mammalian cell lines for protein/viral vector production
  • Analytical/engineering mindset and strong in utilising statistical approaches to optimise process and procedures
  • Industry experience with small-scale bioreactor systems
  • Thorough subject knowledge and solid network of connections across academia and industry
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan, lead and deliver cell culture experiments using small scale, high throughput bioreactor systems, 
  • inclusive of statistical approaches to process design and specification
  • Establish systems for upstream process development and clone screening
  • Close interaction with stakeholders (internal & external) to outline project targets and deliverable actions,
  • in accordance with planned objectives
  • Use of systems including AMBR15, AMBR250 and DASGIP
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of scientific literature and developments within research area
  • Act as a mentor to junior staff, offering guidance and support where required
  • Author SOPs, produce technical reports and perform data analysis
