Scientist/Senior Scientist - Particle Engineering

Key responsibilities

  • - Demonstrate leadership in EHS through actively promoting the JM safety culture.
  • - Demonstrate knowledge and hands on expertise in Particle Engineering and act as the internal ‘- technical expert’ in this field.
  • - Implement crystal and particle engineering strategies to control the polymorphism, particle size and morphology of particles by means of suitable technologies such as crystal engineering, milling and spray-drying.
  • - Develop scale up options for each technology either internally within JM’s network or externally with partners.
  • - Understand the challenges associated with product isolation, filtration, drying and how to overcome them.
  • - Enhance the existing infrastructure, to enable effective screening for clients utilising a variety of particle engineering technologies at laboratory scale.
  • - Compile and collate results on multiple client projects, taking the lead in preparing and presenting these internally and externally.
  • - Maintaining equipment and training users in accordance with Company procedures.


Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • - A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering or Pharmaceutical Science discipline with experience in crystallisation development, particle engineering and pre-formulation within a pharmaceutical environment.
  • - Significant “hands on” experience with multiple particle engineering technologies. Experience and know-how in milling and/or spray-drying technologies is advantageous.
  • - Ability to lead and work as part of multifunctional teams.
  • - Proven ability in engaging with customers.
  • - Extensive relevant experience and understanding of working in a CDMO environment & knowledge of GMP, GLP and ISO 9001 is desirable.
  • - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • - Leadership potential, teamwork and communication skills, ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel
