BioWednesday Cambridge: The gamification of medicine - new applications for virtual reality in healthcare
Increasingly Virtual Reality (VR) is being adopted into clinical settings. Traditionally a technology associated with the entertainment industry, there is potential for VR tools in a wide variety of healthcare applications and impacting a wide variety of user groups, from a professional training aspect to therapy options at a patient level. As we see wider adoption of the technology in a healthcare setting, we must think more about the regulatory and legal considerations to ensure that it is compliant.
As well as exploring the concepts behind VR from a gaming perspective as a way of really understanding the concept of immersion, our BioWednesday will reflect on the impact of using it in healthcare, including some interesting examples to illustrate.
