National Security and Investment Bill: impact on Life Science businesses

With a Life Science sector strongly relying on foreign investment but that also demonstrated its critical importance to national governments worldwide in tackling a healthcare crisis, the National Security and Investment Bill is a highly scrutinised Bill for all Life Science stakeholders. Although the concerns are understandable and many countries have similar (though often less far-reaching legislation), it is fair to question the short term consequences on investment and M&A transactions in the UK and the longer term impact on the UK’s attractiveness as an investment venue for Life Science companies and investors. This session will review the main elements of this Bill and implication for Life Science businesses in order to understand what could constitute trigger events, how to manage them and the impact on transaction timings and possibly how to anticipate government requirements. It should be of interest for any investors, CFOs active in Life Science as well as for those interested in the evolution of the sector.
