Business Development Manager (Health)

Queen Mary University of London is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to support the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) in its relationships with businesses, focusing on the development of research partnerships through Innovate UK collaborative R&D schemes and other commercially focused schemes.

The School of Medicine and Dentistry provides research and teaching excellence across a number of areas including, Genomics, Cancer, Cardiovascular, Precision medicine and Dentistry.

The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for new clients and thereby increase business. They will also be required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new services and funding opportunities, such as the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to clients. Reporting to the Senior Partnerships Manager (Health), the post-holder will be part of an established Business and Partnerships Team of Queen Mary’s Research Services Directorate. They will work closely with our academic community, providing a high-level of client focus, to develop and maintain key partnerships and commercial opportunities. This will require the identification of business partners and funding opportunities; attending and organising relevant meetings and events; supporting high quality research bids and advising on opportunities to further develop research and Knowledge Exchange activities.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside a proactive, creative approach to resourcing academic research. Ideally, you will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, gained through working in a similar role in a research intensive University or commercial environment.

The post is full-time and permanent with a starting salary £46,489 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
