About the Role

The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for new clients and thereby increase business. They will also be required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new services and funding opportunities, such as the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to clients. Reporting to the Senior Partnerships Manager (Health), the post-holder will be part of an established Business and Partnerships Team of Queen Mary’s Research Services Directorate. They will work closely with our academic community, providing a high-level of client focus, to develop and maintain key partnerships and commercial opportunities. This will require the identification of business partners and funding opportunities; attending and organising relevant meetings and events; supporting high quality research bids and advising on opportunities to further develop research and Knowledge Exchange activities.

About You

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside a proactive, creative approach to resourcing academic research. Ideally, you will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, gained through working in a similar role in a research intensive University or commercial environment.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 6, £48,035 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
