Cancer Research UK's Therapeutic Discovery Laboratories (CRUK-TDL) is the in-house CRUK drug discovery unit, with a principal focus on establishing and prosecuting biologically-themed multi-project alliances with commercial partners. Based at the Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre, London, TDL comprises over 80 staff from both industrial and academic backgrounds.

We are looking for someone with a background in drug discovery and an interest in data analysis and management to join our Informatics Team, part of our growing Data team which supports multiple aspects of the drug-discovery project lifecycle. As an informatics scientist you will be working directly with our scientists to support data management processes across all stages of the drug discovery process. Previous experience as an informatician is not required as on the job training will be provided where required, however a familiarity with scientific data and informatics processes is essential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintaining existing data processes and protocols including data capture, analysis, search, and visualisation
Working with laboratory staff to extend and develop current data analysis and capture methods
Providing first line support, including troubleshooting and training, on informatics systems and processes to TDL staff
Interacting with specialist informatics support at supplier organisations to resolve issues and contribute to ongoing systems development
Appling and fostering best practices in data capture, transformation, analysis and visualisation

You will have:

A BSc, MSc or PhD in the physical or life sciences or an equivalent level of industry experience
Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in drug discovery
A passion for working with and understanding data
An understanding of good experimental design
Experience working with informatics software platforms would be advantageous but is not essential (we use Dotmatics, IDBS ActivityBase and Titian Mosaic )
Commitment to high quality, accurate and consistent delivery
