Cell Biologist / Assay Biologist

Domainex has a vacancy for a laboratory-based PhD level scientist (or BSc/MSc with relevant post-graduate experience) qualified in a biological discipline, with working experience in cell biology, biochemistry and/or biophysics fields. The level of appointment will be commensurate with experience.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience with a range of screening techniques across cell biology or biochemical methods in microtitre plate format (e.g. cell viability assays, ELISAs, fluorescence polarisation). Experience with isolated PBMCs would be an advantage. The post also requires an individual with a sound knowledge of molecular pharmacology; however, additional training will be provided to broaden your skill set. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, a quick learner, have good problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively in a team. Candidates that have experience of preparing technical proposals and have a track record of building and deploying assay systems are particularly sought.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
• Apply cutting edge cell biological and/or biochemical techniques for lead discovery and lead optimisation for client projects.
• Responsibility for developing and performing cell-based and biochemical assays (e.g. Fluorescence/FRET techniques, fluorescence polarisation, alphaLISA assays, phenotypic assays, proliferation assays, ELISA, western blots
• Support routine laboratory operation and maintenance
• Prepare and present oral and written reports on research activities to internal and external audiences
• Actively pursue own personal development
• Maintain appropriate awareness of safety procedures, attend required safety training and adhere to laboratory safety rules as defined by the host department
• Ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with organisational standards, policies and procedures
