Development and Support Scientist

We are now looking for a Development and Support Scientist to join our dedicated team.

The Development and Support Scientist will be joining the Vitrolife genomics product development team based on the Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge, UK.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, team-oriented environment with a focus on developing novel, high-quality molecular biology tools. Following training, the Development and Support Scientist will contribute to product development and application support. The primary responsibilities will be to perform a range of standard laboratory duties, conduct experiments and analyse data under the direction of a supervisor. Through exemplary use and in-depth knowledge of our existing genomic products, the Development and Support Scientist will also provide quality technical and application support to customers. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in a range of scientific skills and opportunities for international travel.

Responsibilities

Product Development
Plan, conduct, analyse and report experimental results under direction of a supervisor.
Accurately document results, prepare and deliver presentations at internal team meetings.
Learn protocols and operation of analytical instruments necessary for successful completion of project work.
Understand scientific principles to enable intelligent troubleshooting.
Provide technical and application support on products
Maintain accurate and clear support documentation
Provide excellent support to customers, primarily via e-mail, telephone, and video conference.
General management of the product development lab
Maintain general lab organisation and ordering/availability of lab supplies
Ensure routine testing and calibration of lab equipment

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field
2+ years lab experience in molecular biology or genetics, ideally with hands-on experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) and/or SNP microarrays.
Proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques used for DNA sample preparation from single cells (PCR and whole genome amplification, DNA purification and quantitation).
Experience in product development processes preferred.
Outstanding problem solving, interpersonal skills and organisational skills.
Proficient in standard computer skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, withconfidence in providing detail-oriented training and support.
Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
