Development Scientist - Stem Cells

RoslinCT is looking for a driven individual to join us as a Development Scientist - Cell and Gene Therapy.

We are a world-leading contract manufacturing and development organisation, specialising in the field of cellular therapies, advanced therapeutic medicinal products and regenerative medicine.

We have embarked on an exciting period of growth and are now recruiting across all our teams to support our expansion. This position of Development Scientist forms a key part of that growth.

The Role:
Reporting to our Senior Process Development Scientist, as the Development Scientist you will aid research and development activities through GMP translation and technology transfer of novel cell and gene therapies for subsequent clinical application. You will be responsible for undertaking critical project review with GMP regulations in mind, bioprocess design/development, assay design/development for cell characterisation, development of standard operating procedures and close collaboration with colleagues undertaking technology transfer to GMP Manufacturing within the GMP QMS.

Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities as the Development Scientist will be varied and will include;
Research into and development of various processes, techniques and projects surrounding cell and gene therapies.
Identification, evaluation and introduction of new technologies.
Performing routine tissue culture activities and processes for a range of pluripotent, progenitor and immune system cells (culture techniques, media preparations, reagent preparations, automated systems).
Assisting the GMP translation, process development and technology transfer of academic protocols and the development of assays for the delivery of new cell therapies into GMP Manufacturing facility.
Participating in development of the process validation protocols and technology transfer to GMP Manufacturing facility.
Providing support for the GMP Manufacturing team with the introduction of new manufacturing processes.
Completion and design of documentation including standard operating procedures, standard, experimental plans and reports in line with GMP requirements.
Day to day housekeeping of dedicated laboratories to ensure a high standard of organisation at all times with shared responsibility for out-of-hours cell culture maintenance.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a Life Science discipline, or an equivalent qualification or experience.

Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Extensive cell culture experience, particularly with pluripotent stem cells.
Experience with directed differentiation of stem sells.
Experience with relevant cellular analytical techniques e.g. flow cytometry, qPCR, immunostaining, genetic analysis and electrophysiology.
Excellent ability to plan and execute experiments, with excellent data recording and report writing skills.
Demonstrable critical thinking abilities.
Ability to present and communicate complex scientific information effectively and professionally to clients, project partners and management.
