Our client is a dynamically growing family business and as such part of a globally operating group of companies.
The company develops, produces and markets consumer goods from plastic and membrane components with app. 150 employees at two locations in Germany. Together with their OEM customers from the life sciences sector, the company works on technical challenges to design and implement tailor-made solutions.
The Director, Business Development will be responsible for driving the growth of global OEM projects in the target segment of Rapid Microbiology / IVD through the development of collaborative R&D, license and supply agreements. The industry focus is pharmaceuticals and food testing. As part of the senior leadership team, the BD Director will play a key role in expanding the company’s success through the execution of deals that further the company’s strategic goals.
The role holder will develop and expand relationships with current key account customers as well as build new relationships and prospects to understand both customer research and development and commercialization needs.
The candidate will have several years of international business development and commercial experience with a proven track record of success as a high performing sole contributor of closing deals with external customers.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience in the following areas as this will demonstrate the candidate understands the requirements and internal decision-making processes of major companies:
- product development projects,
- process-oriented product management,
- technical applications in diagnostics and quality control, and
- key account management.
The role holder will have at least a master’s degree in microbiology, biology or a related science; a PhD and/or an additional business studies qualification is preferred. An established network in the relevant life science industries is very advantageous. The role requires fluency in English and German; a third major European language would be beneficial.
Location: preferably Germany (greater Göttingen / Dresden area), otherwise Europe close to an international airport.
