Laboratory, Facilities and Quality Assistant

Johnson Matthey (JM) has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory, Facilities & Quality Assistant to join our Health Sector. Operating from a state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge, we are world leaders in solid state science and crystallisation development. Our services currently include solid-form and physicochemical profiling, salt/polymorph, co-crystal screening and selection, and scale up of forms.

Key responsibilities:

• Demonstrate commitment to EHS through actively promoting the JM safety culture and providing backup to the EHS Manager.
• Assume Laboratory Assistant responsibilities, including:
o Ownership of all Goods In processes including responsibility of all samples in/out of facility and sample tracking in line with internal quality systems and databases.
o Assistance to technical team e.g. preparation of stock solutions, solvents and equipment for experimental studies, maintain adequate levels of laboratory consumables / chemicals.
o Ensure routine maintenance/ calibration of designated equipment is carried out according to equipment matrix schedule.
• Support the Quality and Business Improvement Manager by actively participating in key quality processes including:
o Direct involvement in internal audits and monitoring against schedule
o Promote continuous improvement e.g. tracking and reporting metrics for the internal visual management systems (SQDCP), CAPAs etc
o Assist as appropriate change management for any new or existing equipment or service.
o Management of quality documentation etc.
• Support the Facilities Manager maximise facility efficiency. Key responsibilities include
o Responsible for ensuring appropriate waste storage and collections from site.
o Scheduling and co-ordination of site maintenance including dealing with contractors’ inductions, Risk Assessments etc
• Provide other administrative support as required.

Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have/be:

• Laboratory experience (essential) and relevant facilities experience (desirable)
• 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability in engaging with people and teams.
• Pharmaceutical experience and knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001) highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
