Legal Assistant - part-time permanent vacancy Artios Pharma

Artios Pharma is currently recruiting for a part-time Legal Assistant. This represents an opportunity for an experienced paralegal/legal assistant to join a world class research and development company based south of Cambridge, UK. Artios is a well-funded private biotechnology company focused on identifying and developing medicines to treat cancer that target cellular DNA damage response, a scientific area of high expectation following the success of PARP inhibitors in the clinic. The company is actively building a portfolio of novel R&D projects.

Outline of the role
As a legal assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for working on legal matters with colleagues, legal advisors and other external parties.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised and methodical individual with excellent attention to detail and flexible in your approach to change within a small Biotech company. As a legal assistant you should expect to:
• Work with and report to the CFO and CEO on legal matters
• Work with and support other staff with their requests for legal documents
• Work with the company’s external legal advisors
• Write first document drafts and proofread documents
• Organise files of legal documents into a data room
• Carry out office administration, including filling and logging of legal documents letters

Typical legal documents would include:
• Confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs)
• Master service agreements (MSAs)
• Material transfer agreements (MTAs)
• Scientific collaboration agreements
• Consulting contracts
• Employment contracts
• Licensing agreements

Key Skills and Abilities
You will need to have:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple tasks
• Good attention to detail to be able to carefully analyse files and data
• Legal skills and the desire to develop your understanding of the law
• The ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
• Office administrative skills for tasks such as filing, typing and writing draft documents
• Good teamwork skills particularly when working with the company’s legal advisors
• Flexibility and adaptability in your attitude and approach to work
• Business acumen and an understanding of the company’s business
• Professionalism when working with colleagues, senior management and suppliers
