Medicinal Chemistry Group Leader

Applications are invited from talented and experienced medicinal chemists with prior experience of line management for the role of medicinal chemistry group leader. You will hold a Ph.D. or a B.Sc/M.Sc. degree in organic or medicinal chemistry supported by a proven track record and delivery across hit identification, hit-to-lead and lead optimisation projects in large pharma or the biotech sector. You will have an extensive knowledge of synthetic and medicinal chemistry and a thorough understanding of DMPK, toxicology and biology concepts in order to make key decisions for drug design. The role will involve significant interaction with external customers and will require excellent communication, good inter-personal skills and the ability to clearly summarise and present scientific results and ideas.
As this is a leadership position, previous experience of management of teams or groups is essential along with demonstrable experience of working with cross-discipline teams to successfully drive drug discovery projects.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
• Line-manage medicinal chemistry team leaders and medicinal chemists of varying experience levels
• Working with several clients to agree and implement project strategy and responsibility for the day-to-day reporting and communication of project progress to the clients
• Providing leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams provision of insight to the future chemistry direction for the project
• Provision of chemistry expertise to the business development team to assist in securing new business for Domainex
• Play an active role as a member of the chemistry leadership team, using your knowledge to contribute to growing the department and influencing R&D strategy
