Project Support Assistant

Applications are invited for two Project Support Assistants to join the Gut Microbes and Health (GMH) Programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based on the Norwich Research Park in Norwich, UK.

Background:

To understand what makes a healthy microbiome, The Gut Microbes and Health Programme is studying how the gut is initially colonised by microbes in the first months and years of life, and how this contributes to lifelong health. Our aims are to understand in what ways the gut microbiota help us maintain a healthy state, and the changes that occur that lead to disease.

The Project Support Assistants will be based within the PEARL/MOTION team, responsible for delivering the PEARL and MOTION longitudinal studies within the GMH research programme:

The PEARL (Pregnancy & Early Life) study is investigating how the transmission of beneficial microbes from mother to baby affects infant health.

The MOTION study is investigating gut microbes and the role they may play in healthy ageing and in particular, declining mental health and the risk of developing dementia.

The role:

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in project administrative duties such as data collection, sharing and filing, and database management. They will also work directly with members of the NHS-Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and participants in the PEARL and MOTION studies by answering queries, assisting with recruitment and after full training, to deliver study visit appointments with the participants.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in project management, team working and delivery of human studies. You will support world leading scientists who are experts in their field.

While the role will mainly be administrative, if the successful candidate wishes to have experience in the laboratory, this could also be discussed but is not a prerequisite.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £19,700 to £24,028 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full time post until 30th November 2022.
