Research Associate - Drug Discovery

We’re looking for a Research Associate to join our Drug Discovery team to help drive the early stage R&D projects. This lab-based position will involve selections, protein expression and immunological cell assays to enable lead nomination. You will get the opportunity to contribute towards our projects and learn a wide range of techniques used within the bispecific Drug Discovery process.

• Contribute to phage/yeast display selections
• Screening and characterisation of antibody molecules
• Cloning, expression and purification of bispecific molecules
• Contribute to the development of immune cell activation assays
• Design and execute a diverse range of experiments to high quality enabling decision making
• Analyse, interpret and report experimental data to line manager and team
• Contribute to the maintenance of reagents and general lab facilities
• Work effectively in a small team and with cross-functional team members

You’ll have a BSc or MSc in a biological subject or equivalent industry experience.
You’ll be adaptable, keen to learn and confident in delivering their work with limited supervision. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail. You will be enthusiastic and keen to learn and optimize new methods. Strong communication skills are important along with the proven ability to work well within teams, both in person and in a virtual environment. This is a busy role with deadlines to meet and so you’ll be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to change when needed.

• Hands-on experience in cell/molecular biology;
o DNA manipulation, sequence alignment and analysis
o mammalian cell culture
• Understanding of concepts in cancer biology and immune oncology
• Experience in phage or yeast selections
• Experience in assays using immune cells
• Previous industry experience in R&D drug discovery role

This role is to be based from our laboratories and office space based on the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire.

This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week. While this is primarily a laboratory-based role, F-star is proud to fully embrace agile working which gives you options in how, where and when you get your work done, including flexible working hours and home working.
