Isomerase is an innovative, growing biotechnology company based at Chesterford Research Park near Cambridge, UK. It was founded in 2012 and has particular expertise in synthetic biology, bioengineering and the discovery and development of the next generation of microbial natural products and peptides for use in areas such as medicine, agritech or sustainable alternatives to existing petroleum based products. The Company is growing rapidly and has recently moved into a new HQ facility in Cambridge.
Due to our continued expansion we are looking for excellent candidates for roles in Synthetic Biology.
As a key member of the Biology team in a thriving biotech company, you will play an important role in developing the next generation of microbially-derived products. Your duties will include carrying out synthetic biology techniques, bacterial and fungal fermentations and analysis of metabolite production.
You should possess, or will soon receive, a relevant science degree (Research Associate) or PhD (or equivalent experience for Research Scientist) and have worked in a laboratory environment. Practical experience of microbial techniques and standard molecular/synthetic biology techniques is essential. Previous experience with biosynthetic engineering or microbial fermentation optimisation would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and reporting skills, be comfortable working as part of a team and should be keen to develop new techniques and methodologies.
The ideal candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate a high aptitude for learning and assimilating new skills and concepts. The successful candidate(s) will possess excellent numeracy and IT skills. You will be capable of communicating your ideas and reporting your data and results with other scientists and will be an enthusiastic team member.
