Isomerase is an innovative, growing biotechnology company based at Chesterford Research Park near Cambridge, UK. It was founded in 2012 and has particular expertise in synthetic biology, bioengineering and the discovery and development of the next generation of microbial natural products and peptides for use in areas such as medicine, agritech or sustainable alternatives to existing petroleum based products. The Company is growing rapidly and has recently moved into a new HQ facility in Cambridge.

Due to our continued expansion we are looking for excellent candidates for roles in natural products chemistry.

Research Associate or Research Scientist (Chemistry)
As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in developing the next generation of microbially-derived products and processes. Your duties will include developing processes to isolate and purify compounds produced in bacteria and fungi as well as quantification and identification of novel compounds in microbial broths.
You should possess, or will soon receive, a relevant science degree (Research Associate) or PhD (or equivalent experience for Research Scientist), and have a thorough understanding of analytical and organic chemistry. Practical experience of small molecule purification, protein purification, HPLC and LCMS is preferred. An understanding of, and previous experience, with biosynthesis or biocatalysis is essential (Research Scientist) or desirable (Research Associate).
The ideal candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate a high aptitude for learning and assimilating new skills and concepts. The successful candidate(s) will possess excellent numeracy and IT skills. You will be capable of communicating your ideas and reporting your data and results with other scientists and will be an enthusiastic team member.
