Research Scientist

Adrestia Therapeutics, a new exciting biotechnology company based in Cambridge, is seeking to recruit two cell and molecular biologists to join its world class research team. As a successful applicant, you will join a small research team and will apply your expertise in cell and/or molecular biology to contribute to the Company’s research programmes relating to multiple therapeutic areas. You will also assist in ensuring the effective day-to-day running of company scientific laboratory operations. Key responsibilities:
The post-holder will at all times operate with the highest levels of scientific and professional integrity, honesty and openness. Roles within the company will include:
• Planning and executing laboratory experiments as agreed upon with Senior Scientists within the company and company advisors.
• Where possible, acting independently to solve technical problems encountered during experimental procedures.
• Evaluating results, forming conclusions and implementing process improvements.
• Ensuring that all studies are efficiently and safely aligned to agreed procedures.
• Maintaining project schedules.
• General duties of ensuring safe and effective running of the research laboratories.
• Keeping inventories of laboratory supplies, and making stock solutions as required.
• Where required, participating in company meetings to facilitate and drive projects to completion and ensuring that projects meet timelines and budgets.
• Providing documentation of work in the form of notebooks and reports.
• Maintaining excellent working relationships with other company employees.

Essential requirements:
• Degree or equivalent in life sciences.
• Previous research laboratory experience relating to mammalian cell culture.
• Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as DNA cloning, PCR, mutagenesis, western blotting, DNA, RNA and protein analysis would be advantageous.
• High attention to detail and good record keeping.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Able to prioritise and manage multiple duties.
• Reliable, trustworthy and self-motivated.

Desirable requirements:
• Experience in CRISPR/Cas9 technology
• Significant experience in tissue culture, transfection, siRNA studies, stable cell line generation and cell sorting.
