RSSL: Senior Technician - Wet Chemistry

Purpose of the Role

At RSSL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mondelēz International, we are customer focused, science led and results driven.

This position will be responsible for performing a range of routine, mainly pharmacopoeial testing activities using wet chemistry techniques in the pharmaceutical laboratory to GMP quality standards.

Position exists due to promotion of existing job holder.

Main Responsibilities

• Technical and Operational

o Undertake a range of routine, mainly pharmacopoeial analyses under supervision by a senior member of staff. These analyses may include the use of classical analytical chemistry wet chemistry testing.
o Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
o Gain necessary competence in the use of the Laboratory’s LIMS system to process analysis.
o Contribute to Mondelez’s Innovation and Research projects, as required.
o Contribute to RSSL’s Emergency Response Service (ERS).
o Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required.
o Learn and expand on analytical techniques, working as part of an efficient team.
• Communication & Influence
o Assist with client queries as appropriate and represent RSSL in a professional manner at all times.


o Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are read before starting work.
o Help maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
o Understand and work to the requirements of GMP.
o Ensure all training records are accurate.
o Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; raise questions and concerns when faced with an ethical or compliance issues; apply integrity in all aspects of professional conduct.
o This is a local role based at the RSSL site in Reading and it constitutes a support function for the Pharmaceutical laboratory.



• Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training
o Education to A level, preferably one of which is Chemistry, or relevant laboratory experience.
o Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel).

o Previous practical industry experience in an analytical laboratory.
o Pharmaceutical development awareness.
