We’re looking for a motivated Analytical Scientist with Mass Spectrometry experience in characterising antibody-based protein. Working within the Protein Sciences group, you will proactively contribute to the development and delivery of analytical capabilities to support our technology platform and mAb2 bispecific pipeline. Analytical capabilities are required to deliver protein engineering, research grade production and process development activities with a key focus on protein characterisation and developability assessments.

• Development and delivery of analytical methods for characterisation of F-star mAb2 pipeline with a key focus on primary structure determination, protein structure prediction and post-translational modification characterisation
• Developability assessment, characterisation and formulation of mAb2 molecules
• Critical interpretation of data to draw results driven conclusions and define project progression

We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, keen to learn, and enthusiastic about protein engineering. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail and confident in delivering work with limited supervision. Communication skills are important along with the ability to work well within teams. This is a busy role with deadlines to meet and so you’ll be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to change when needed.

• PhD or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in analytical and biophysical characterisation of recombinant biotherapeutics. (e.g. formulation, protein aggregation, protein stability and post-translational modifications including glycosylation).
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and applying the following techniques: Protein characterisation using Liquid Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry with a focus on workflows to assess sequence coverage, sequence identity and post-translational identification and measurement
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and applying Chromatography techniques including UHPLC (SEC, RP, IEX)
• Demonstrated good knowledge of sequence analysis, post-translational liabilities analysis and high order structure of proteins (Includes Native MS)
• Demonstrated scientific credibility and ability to drive and influence projects through scientific expertise; proven ability to interpret complex data
• Team player and ability to work in teams with different skills
• Solution-finding, and agility as evidenced by flexibility, adaptability to change, curiosity, and ability to lead and drive change
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in early stage developability assessment of therapeutic proteins and development lifecycle for recombinant protein therapeutics
• Knowledge of protein engineering
• Knowledge and experiences in biophysical methods for characterisation of protein conformation (DSC, FT-IR, CD, Light Scattering) and Sub Visible Particles (DLS, Light obscuration)
• Knowledge of research scale and GMP scale production processes as applied to CMC development

This role is to be based in our laboratories and office space on Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire.
