About the Role

The role is to provide a professional service with respect to a range of contractual, legal and administrative services, including the drafting, negotiation and preparation of a wide variety of contracts for research, collaborations, services, and consultancy and studentship arrangements.

The post-holder will work closely with the Business and Partnership team and commercial partners, providing a high level of client service to support and develop research contracts including the negotiation of commercial and Intellectual Property terms. They will advise colleagues on contractual and legal matters, resolving issues and problems as they arise.

About You

With a legal qualification or relevant experience of contract drafting and negotiation, the successful candidate will have an in depth working knowledge and understanding of the associated risks and legal issues. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible approach to work, being able to prioritise a demanding programme of work to meet set deadlines.

A thorough and detailed understanding of a suite of HEI legal and regulatory requirements is essential to carry out this role in a much specialised area of research administration. The post holder will have a high level of professionalism and keen analytical intelligence. Above all the post-holder will have a keen desire to meet targets and deadlines and to pursue excellence in all that they do and to look for continuous development and personal growth.

The role sits within a keen and friendly Business Development team that is part of Queen Mary University of London’s Research Services Directorate.

The post is based at the Mile End and Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time, permanent appointment. The starting salary will be Grade 5, range of £38,084 - £44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
