Senior Process Development Scientist

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work in our purpose built state-of-the-art facility as part of the downstream purification team developing and validating protein purification processes for various high value proteins and complex natural products derived from plants. The Senior Process Development Scientist will be responsible for applying a variety of techniques (FPLC (ÄKTA), micro and ultrafiltration, SDS-PAGE, biophysical analysis and biochemical assays) to deliver research and non-clinical grade products to a variety of specifications for both grant-based projects and commercial customers.


Qualifications and Experience:
BSc/MSc degree and PhD in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology or an associated life science.

Minimum 4 years practical experience in the research, development and scale-up of protein purification using techniques including fast protein liquid chromatography, micro and ultrafiltration, SDS-PAGE and western blotting within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment or contract manufacturing organization.

A team player with excellent problem-solving skills, good scientific judgement and communication skills with a methodical and open-minded approach to dealing with challenges.

The following would be desirable but are not essential: hands-on experience of VLP and/or antibody purification at scale, knowledge of plant-based expression systems, experience of biophysical and/or biochemical assays, project management skills.
