We have a new opportunity for two Senior Scientific Managers to join our team in DNA Pipelines.
The DNA Pipelines team exist to provide the Wellcome Sanger Institute with a centralised capability for the use high throughput, bespoke and niche applications of sequencing technologies and pipelines.
About the role:
You will be responsible for managing one of the DNAP core operational teams, ensuring that the team provides high quality leading edge services to support the changing scientific and capacity requirements of the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
You will lead and manage a diverse operational team to ensure that they provide a customer focused, timely, high quality service to our faculty groups, external stakeholders and third parties.
You will develop & maintain close and effective working relationships other DNAP teams, DNAP Technical Development and faculty groups to improve operations and be a key driving force to ensure continuous improvement and the deployment of new pipelines into operations smoothly.
Proven management experience line managing a team/multiple teams in a service delivery environment
Excellent communication skills with experience of dealing with people at all levels successfully
Strong understanding of workflow and the application of LEAN methodologies
Proven experience in developing KPI’s & reporting of operational metrics data
Strong customer focus, especially with regard to quality, service delivery & issue resolution.
Proven ability to be able to manage conflicting demands
Proven track record in managing, mentoring and developing others
Proven experience & ability of working in constantly changing environment holding the responsibility to interpret management information, amend plans and act.
Good knowledge & understanding of molecular biology & DNA Sequencing technologies.
Previous demonstrable experience in managing complex cross team functions or projects.
Previous experience leading and driving change projects and implementing technologies into operational environments.
Proven experience managing and delivering a continuous improvement culture.
Due to Covid 19, the Wellcome Genome Campus closed for all but essential functions and facilities. As we begin restarting our science, we have implemented measures to support our staff on site including one way systems, enhanced cleaning and increased facilities for handwashing.
