Senior Scientist - Stem Cell or Developmental Biology

Elpis Biomed is hiring two Senior Scientists!

About Elpis Biomed:
Elpis Biomed is a University of Cambridge spin out with the vision to become a defining force in the emerging field of synthetic biology as the leading, global supplier of human cells for science, drug discovery, bioprocessing and cell therapy. Elpis Biomed cell reprogramming technology allows for unprecedented levels of consistency and purity, whilst significantly reducing the manufacturing time taken to generate mature human cell populations from pluripotent stem cells. Elpis Biomed has been elected the 2018 Start-Up of the Year by the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards.

About the Role:
Elpis Biomed is looking for two Senior Scientists with experience in cell biology to join our scientific team. We are a young fast-growing company entering its next wave of growth. Complementing our current team of scientists, new members will become key partners in our motivated multidisciplinary team.

To be eligible, you should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience after your PhD. For the first, you should have worked in the field of Stem Cell or Developmental Biology and acquired a strong knowledge of the mechanisms and methods of study of cell differentiation using mammalian models.

For the second vacancy, we are looking for a candidate with a strong background in haematology and/ or immunology.

For both positions, solid practical experience of complex cell culture systems and current techniques for phenotypic and functional characterisation are a must. Additional knowledge in genetic engineering (e.g. CRISPR/Cas, lentiviral vectors) and advanced molecular approaches like next generation sequencing and high content data analysis are an advantage.

We are looking for strong team players that are driven by science and enjoy cracking tough questions through critical thinking and creativity. This is a lab-based role and as Senior Scientist you should able to work independently (design, plan, execute, record, interpret and troubleshoot experiments), mentor other team members, work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.

Why join Elpis Biomed?
• We provide a vibrant and dynamic work environment in an exciting fast-moving field of biology, using cutting edge technologies and working with leaders in the field.
• Our company culture encourages everybody to actively shape their position and we provide ample opportunities for personal and professional development.
• We are strategically based on the fast-developing Cambridge Biomedical Campus and we offer competitive salaries.
