Description of the role
Infex Therapeutics are looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to facilitate our research activities. The role will involve management, logging and logistics of antimicrobial compounds generated and received by Infex Therapeutics. Other responsibilities include maintenance of consumables and reagent levels in the biology and chemistry departments. This role requires thorough organisational skills and the ability to maintain excellent communication with Biology and Chemistry departments and on-site or off-site service providers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain training and experience in a laboratory and to support the development of novel antimicrobial treatments.

Responsibilities

• Work accurately and precisely to fulfil compound logistics and management, maintain databases, laboratory stock levels of reagents/consumables
• Work seamlessly with the biology and chemistry teams
• Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines
• Organisation of workload
• Good inter-departmental communication skills
• Computer literacy e.g. able to use MS office applications
• Be able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment
• Removal of hazardous waste from laboratories daily
• Co-ordinating receipt of goods against departmental inventories
• Distributing goods to relevant departments and logging all deliveries
• Liaising with Purchasing Team and creating purchase orders for solvent and other chemical stocks

Skills/qualification
• You will need a minimum of GCSE A*-C in Mathematics, English and Science, a further Science qualification (e.g. A Level/BTEC) or relevant laboratory experience would be advantageous.
• Good interpersonal skills and teamwork.

COVID information: Infex Therapeutics has implemented COVID precautions in both our office and laboratory facilities. Due to the nature of our work, laboratory staff are actively working in our Alderley Park facilities. As such, there will be minimal home working required with this position during the COVID-19 pandemic. Interviews will also be conducted face to face, whilst following COVID safety guidelines.
