Research Assistant

Biocrucible is developing a class-leading molecular diagnostic platform based on its proprietary isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology. This platform has the potential to offer rapid results with PCR-like levels of sensitivity and specificity but in a fully-disposable format usable by both consumers at home and also in low-resource environments. Our technology can significantly improve the performance of many processes already currently in use throughout the life science and diagnostic industries. The acquisition by Sapphiros in July 2021 has provided further investment and operational support to accelerate this next-generation platform to market.

We now require a Research Assistant to join our R&D team

The main responsibilities are

• Designing assays, procuring, and screening primers and probes
• Analysis of batch-to-batch recombinant protein performance
• Development of lyophilization formulations and conditions to maximize performance and stability of biochemical reagents.
• Designing and performing experiments independently parallelizing work streams where necessary
• Preparing buffers and solutions
• Contributing to the effective running of the laboratory
• Operation of epifluorescence microscope and performing image analysis.
• Set up of lateral flow & fluorescent assays including testing of novel detection methods
• Development and optimization of nucleic acid lateral flow detection methodologies

Preferred Experience, Skills and qualification

• Laboratory experience with experience in setting up in vitro assays/biochemical reactions
• BSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology
• High level of productivity with good attention to detail
• Methodical and organized approach to tasks
• Experience or understanding of working within a Quality Management system
