TRIMTECH Therapeutics, a well-funded and vibrant early-stage biotech based at Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge, UK, is expanding its team. We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Associate Director (Biology) to work closely with academic and CRO partners, internal chemists, and R&D leadership to create transformative new therapeutics.

Join our core team of experienced scientists and drug hunters to develop the next generation of protein degraders, based on the pioneering work of Dr. Leo James and Professor William McEwan (Science, 2024 and Cell, 2024). Our mission is to create novel small molecule degraders of protein aggregates to combat neurodegenerative diseases and address some of society's biggest challenges.

We are seeking an Associate Director to project lead strategically important internal and potential future collaborative programs. You will act as the primary scientific point of contact for external collaborators, managing stakeholders, keeping activities on time and within budget, and drive the project forward, working closely with R&D leaders, internal and external project teams.

What you will be doing:

• Act as scientific lead for internal or external collaborative programmes, delivering milestones on time and on budget, working alongside senior R&D leadership.
• Direct day-to-day activities of the project team and contract research organisations, providing scientific guidance, expertise, and clear direction, owning the day-to-day management of the project.
• Clearly communicate issues, de-risking strategy, and progress to enable clear go- or no-go decisions on the project or specific activities.
• Ensure all activities, protocols, risk assessments, records, and data (both internal and generated at external partners’ sites) are clearly recorded, kept up to date, and compliant with regulatory and H&S requirements
• Create and present plans and results across a range of verbal and written channels to R&D, senior leadership, programme teams, and external stakeholders
• Maintain strong awareness of internal and external developments in the field, proactively suggesting and evaluating new techniques and technologies to further collaboration goals.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

• Degree or PhD in a relevant field, with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Significant experience and a proven track record of supporting or leading small molecule drug discovery and development programmes from target validation phases to delivering an advanced lead or candidate.
• Experience working with external collaborators in a biotech setting to successfully deliver collaborative project milestones on time and on budget.
• Experience of preparing and presenting project updates and plans to both internal and external stakeholders including project and governance meetings.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading external teams, ensuring CROs and/or academic partners adhere to timelines and making clear go/no-go decisions on activities, in a fast-moving environment
• Working knowledge, expertise and problem-solving skills in targeted protein degradation (TPD), or molecular glue degraders
• Exceptionally strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work across internal teams and external partners.
• A "can-do" problem-solving approach and passion for science, working respectfully and collaboratively and within a cross-functional team of outstanding scientists.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

• Expertise with iPSCs and/or neuronal models for drug discovery.
• Expertise with protein aggregates and their role in disease.
• Line management experience
