BioInnovation Institute (BII), a leading institute for life science and deep tech start-ups, has chosen Victoria House in London as the location for its UK base – the first research space outside of its headquarters in Copenhagen - marking a major milestone in BII’s expansion of translational innovation across Europe.

The London hub, which was developed by Pioneer Group and Oxford Properties, will serve as the flagship site for BII’s newly launched CardioMetabolic Bridge initiative - a pan-European effort backed by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and designed to accelerate the translation of groundbreaking cardio-metabolic research into commercially viable companies and impactful healthcare solutions.

Central to the Knowledge Quarter, Victoria House offers direct access to a powerful network of researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders. This strategic positioning, close to world class research institutions, universities and organisations, will enable BII to strengthen collaboration and unlock new opportunities to advance cardiometabolic innovation.

Miranda Knaggs, Corporate Development Director at Pioneer Group, said: “We are delighted that BII has chosen Victoria House as its premier UK base to anchor such a critical pan-European initiative. Victoria House will not only become home to the BII; it will serve as a launchpad for Pioneer and BII to co-create and collaborate across our respective flagship venture building programmes. Biotech innovators consistently face bottleneck pressures regarding early-stage translational infrastructure. By deeply integrating our teams and embedding BII’s expertise within our high-specification facilities in London’s Knowledge Quarter, we are perfectly positioned to jointly de-risk cardiometabolic science and accelerate the next generation of life-changing therapies from the lab straight to the patient.”

Pierre-Etienne Accarier, Director at Oxford Properties, said: “London is a globally leading innovation hub and our decision to invest in the conversion of Grade II listed Victoria House into cutting-edge laboratory, office and innovation space is based on the city’s
unlimited potential for science, technology and discovery. By joining Victoria House as an occupier, BII will have access to best-in-class facilities, partnerships, research networks and the broader science ecosystem that we’ve created in collaboration with Pioneer.”

Europe is home to world-class research in cardiometabolic disease, yet many promising discoveries fail to progress beyond the lab due to gaps in translational infrastructure and innovation support. The CardioMetabolic Bridge initiative will address this challenge by providing a dedicated platform to mature technologies, de-risk scientific breakthroughs and support company creation.

Under the agreement, BII is expected to establish its London presence from July, with team based at Victoria House. The site will facilitate translational research activities within laboratory facilities, helping to move innovations closer to commercialisation.

BII’s Chief Development Officer, Christian Rank, commented: “Victoria House places BII at the heart of one of the world’s leading life science ecosystems, giving us direct access to outstanding translational research and the opportunity to turn breakthrough science into companies with real societal impact.

“BII has demonstrated the strength of its innovation model in Denmark. From Victoria House, we will now apply that proven approach to accelerate promising cardiometabolic research and build the next generation of life science ventures.”

BII’s activities at Victoria House will focus on advancing cardiometabolic therapeutics, with the goal of supporting early-stage innovation and enabling the next generation of biotech companies to emerge from Europe’s strong scientific base.

While London will act as the initial hub and focal point for the initiative, BII has outlined plans to expand into additional locations in Germany and Italy as part of its wider European ambition.
