ROLE OVERVIEW:
An exciting opportunity for a Bioprocess Lead to join a leading biotechnology company based in Greater London.

You will be responsible for overseeing the bioprocess function, driving innovation and scale-up while leading a team of around 10 scientists and engineers. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on expertise, ensuring our client’s proprietary processes are developed, adapted, and transferred effectively to support their next-generation manufacturing capability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Bioprocess Lead will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Lead the design, optimisation, and scale-up of bioprocesses to support growth from bench to industrial production.

Oversee the bioprocess R&D and production teams, building capabilities and ensuring successful integration of new technologies.

Provide technical direction across upstream and downstream operations, ensuring robust sterile practices, process control, and analytical monitoring.

Mentor and develop colleagues while coordinating closely with engineering, hardware, and software teams.

As the Bioprocess Lead you will ensure bioprocess activities align with wider business objectives, enabling successful transition into manufacturing.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Bioprocess Lead we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

A Degree or higher level in Biochemical Engineering / Cell Biology / Biomanufacturing (e.g., Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Quality Assurance / Quality Management for QA roles).

Extensive expertise in bioprocess development and successful scale-up, including experience at 1000L scale or above.

Proven ability to adapt and apply processes within novel or proprietary bioreactor systems.

Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
