Registration is now open for the CIPIL Annual Spring Conference, organised by the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law.

‘Is IP Good for Our Health?’ will bring together practitioners, scholar and policymakers to examine the latest decisions, research, and political developments in intellectual property and health. The conference will be chaired by Lord Justice Richard Arnold.

Date: Saturday 7 March 2020; 9.30 – 18.00.

Venue: Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge. 10 West Rd, CB3 9DZ.

Topics will include:

  • The implications of non-obviousness for follow-on medical innovation (e.g., drug repurposing) after the UK Supreme Court’s 2019 decision Actavis v ICOS
  • The current and future roles of competition law in controlling drug prices, including an update on Flynn and Pfizer
  • The potential effect of Brexit on the trade of medical products
  • The role of patents in the development of precision medicine
  • Whether regulatory exclusivities incentivise the development of drugs, and the possible reduction of protection for biologics in the US
  • Global access to medicines and alternatives to IP
