From an economic development perspective, competition is intense to attract life science companies to grow, thereby creating jobs, wealth, and taxation revenue. A bird’s-eye view would suggest many locations are able to claim similar strengths, such as leading research institutions, entrepreneurial culture, investors, leading hospitals, infrastructure, environment, and incentives. The devil is often in the detail, however, when it comes to growing a life science company, so the choice of where to locate. The panel will discuss how leaders approach such decisions and consider such factors as:
