This interactive webinar provides the opportunity for those shaping, impacted by or influencing the future of new drug discovery and development in the UK to share thoughts on the current situation, what they feel the future holds and what support they feel would be useful from Government or others to support any transition.

Recent years has seen a decided shift in investor and biotech company focus driven primarily by the prolonged challenging financing dynamics for the sector, emergence of TechBio in drug discovery and geographic changes on the sourcing of early-stage bio-innovation.

The significant impact on the employment of those skilled in R&D disciplines have bene profound, most notably the focus of investors on later stage assets and consequently the priorities of biotech leadership teams moving to clinical development away from resourcing discovery labs. This has manifested in high rates of R&D staff redundancies and higher than expected lab vacancy rates.
