In light of a plethora of reports detailing the challenges facing drug discovery R&D in the UK, manifesting in high redundancy rates, increasing lab vacancy rates and limiting of scientific careers, there is a growing sense that action must be taken quickly to address the situation, yet there has been a feeling of lack of urgency among policymakers and their influencers.

Following a webinar held on 9 April 2026 to discuss what actions are required, One Nucleus will be holding a Working Dinner on the evening of Wednesday 14 May 2026 in the stimulating surroundings of The Nucleus at Chesterford Research Park. Adding value beyond the opportunity to network with peers, the dinner provides a sense of purpose to all stakeholders in the sector.

A facilitated discussion over dinner, limited to 130 attendees so as not to stifle input and networking, the dinner is a great opportunity to refine the specific asks the sector would like to see made of Government and other influencers shaping the future of the UK biotech sector. Such measures of support deemed essential and pressing if the UK is to remain competitive in the global BioPharma R&D space.

Whilst a separate event, the dinner will follow the BioBeat 2026 conference taking place the same day at the same venue. Booking for dinner is open to both BioBeat attendees and non-BioBeat attendees.
