My Green Lab
My Green Lab’s mission is to build a global culture of sustainability in science and is a world leader in developing environmental standards for laboratories and laboratory products—bringing sustainability solutions to the community responsible for the world’s life-changing medical innovations.
The importance of this effort cannot be overlooked - Laboratories are some of the most resource-intensive buildings of any kind. A typical laboratory can use up to 10x more energy and 4x more water than a typical office building. Additionally, laboratory supply chains are responsible for approximately 2% of worldwide plastic waste, making the scientific community’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact a truly global effort. My Green Lab estimates there are over 265,000 labs worldwide and over 2,000,000 laboratory products, each providing an opportunity for My Green Lab programs and services in an increasingly environmentally conscious and cost-sensitive industry.
As such, My Green Lab’s two flagship programs, Green Lab Certification and ACT Label are designed to address the environmental impact in laboratories and lab supply chains respectively. Each certification program delivers customer value by proving frameworks for scientific organizations to reduce environmental impact, realize cost savings, and create market differentiation for their scientific organizations and/or products.
Since the development of the My Green Lab Certification and ACT Label, My Green Lab as an organization has grown from a grassroots effort to the most influential organization in the laboratory sustainability space. My Green Lab counts 23 of 25 of the world’s largest pharma companies as customers, with more than 1,300 labs and 2,400 products certified across 220 organizations and in 39 countries. With proven market fit, its recent endorsement by the United Nations Race to Zero Program, and a substantial lead on the competition, My Green Lab is positioned for global growth.
