Eastern AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) has published its latest impact review (for the period April 2019 to 31 March 2020) highlighting how they turned great ideas into positive health impact last year, told largely in the words of the people they worked with.
The review covers the breadth and depth of their collaborations to deliver some major successes in terms of patient and investment impact and includes an overview of their role supporting NHS partners’ response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Highlights of the year included helping reduce the number of avoidable strokes in the region, supporting some of the most vulnerable mental health patients by working to integrate their care, making progress to improve patient safety in maternity and care homes and reducing the number of hospital readmissions occurring through medication errors.
Eastern AHSN also significantly increased the guidance provided to local innovators in health and care, introducing their first scale-up academy and a wider collaborative programme called MedTechBOOST. They established 27 pilot sites, 186 innovators benefitted from their bespoke business support, 98% of people left their regional leaders innovation forum in January inspired by their purpose, they launched their diversity and inclusion pledges and 5 projects were recognised with awards.
