Your role
We are seeking a coordinator to oversee incorporation of the increasingly large volumes of eukaryotic genome data into Ensembl. You will provide leadership and vision for our eukaryotic genome analysis pipelines and have extensive knowledge of genome annotation, comparative genomics, and the Ensembl infrastructure. You will be expected to work closely with all Ensembl teams to ensure data is being processed and released through Ensembl in as efficient a manner as possible, identifying and removing barriers to scaling, and maximising user impact. You will have significant prior experience working within international consortia, where you provide leadership in global consortia in key areas such as biodiversity and pangenomics, and use you network of collaborators to identify major drivers for the future growth of data in Ensembl.
You have
- A Master’s or PhD in genetics, genomics, or bioinformatics.
- Experience managing medium-sized teams, cross-team coordination and working within large international consortia.
- A deep understanding of genome annotation, comparative genomics, and the Ensembl infrastructure.
- Experience managing large genomics projects and balancing service delivery with development capacity.
- Advanced knowledge of Ensembl APIs, schemas, and release processes.
- Strong technical skills in genomics, genome annotation, experimental data types (ONT, Iso-seq, Ribo-seq), and comparative genomics
- A strong network of global collaborators and experience engaging with key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work across multi-institute, remote teams

- Experience in grant writing, budgeting and reporting
- Knowledge of pangenomics and its relationship with genome annotation
- Experience with AI-ready data and assessing AI model outputs
- Experience with cloud, hybrid-cloud and containerisation
- Familiarity with event organisation and training delivery

- Job location: This role is based in Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK. You will be required to relocate if you are based overseas and you will receive a generous relocation package to support you.
