Cerevance is an emerging Biotech harnessing a novel technology platform to deliver life-changing therapeutics for patients with central nervous system diseases. Cerevance is generating unprecedented human CNS expression data sets, from which novel targets are being identified for innovative drug discovery programs. Based on this approach, we have built a strong pipeline with projects at various development stages, ranging from target validation, hit identification to lead optimization as well as clinial stage.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated scientist based in our Cambridge facility (Cambridge Science Park). As part of the in vitro pharmacology team, this role will focus on developing in vitro assays and compound screening support for drug discovery projects. There will also be an opportunity to be involved in a large scale CNS expression project to identify novel targets.
The successful candidate will have experience in the development and use of robust microplate screening assays (96/384-well), such as luminescence/fluorescence based techniques to monitor changes in cellular messengers (e.g. calcium and cAMP). These assays must be consistently run to a high standard to generate reproducible compound profiling data. This role requires expertise in aseptic mammalian cell culture (ideally including BSL 2), use of automated liquid handlers, plate readers and data analysis software. Knowledge and experience of working with ion channels, enzymes and/or GPCRs is advantageous. This position requires a candidate who is highly motivated and flexible, works carefully and methodically, and has excellent oral and written communication skills.
Candidates should have at least a B.Sc. in a relevant biology related discipline or considerable, relevant laboratory expertise. We expect candidates to be highly motivated, flexible and organized scientists with the ability to multi-task.
