Cerevance Ltd: Research Scientist/Senior Scientist Role

Reports to: VP Drug Discovery

Department: In Vitro Pharmacology

About Cerevance

Cerevance is an emerging Biotech harnessing a novel technology platform to deliver life-changing therapeutics for patients with central nervous system diseases. Cerevance is generating unprecedented human CNS expression data sets, from which novel targets are being identified for innovative drug discovery programs. Based on this approach, we have built a strong pipeline, with projects at various development stages, ranging from target validation and hit identification to lead optimization, as well as clinical stage.
We are seeking to recruit a motivated scientist for a maternity coverage (1 year fixed contract) who is an expert in the development of in vitro assays which are suitable for high throughput screens, as well as in providing input to preclinical drug discovery programs.

Key responsibilities

In collaboration with interdiciplinary team members, the individual will be responsible for designing optimal screening cascades for preclinical programs. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of developing and using robust microplate assays (96/384-well), such as luminescence/fluorescence-based assays to monitor compound binding, enzyme function and changes in cellular messengers. Knowledge of and experience of working with a range of target classes would be advantageous. The candidate will be integrated in an in vitro pharmacology team and should have experience in co-ordinating and delivering results from projects run in partnership with external collaborators. Data management and usage of the Dotmatics platform will be critical.

Requirements

A successful candidate will ideally bring at least 3 years of industry experience in an in vitro pharmacology group. The individual should be familiar with developing and troubleshooting the most typical assay formats to assess GPCR and ion channel activity and will ideally have experience with biophysical assays.

Importantly, the candidate will require excellent communication skills and be familiar with interactions with CROs.
