The Commercialisation Manager is a pivotal role for the Institute and Campus and will develop and implement commercialisation strategies to exploit innovative Institute research findings, working as part of a highly motivated team focused on impact delivery and collaboration. This role requires a hands-on, energetic and self-motivated individual with a scientific background in life sciences who has experience in working with researchers to find commercial routes to market for early-stage technology/IP.
The Commercialisation Manager will foster collaborative research opportunities with industry partners, evaluate translation opportunities, understand market opportunities, enact appropriate IP protection, and implement commercialisation strategies. They will have the distinctive opportunity to work 80% in the Babraham Institute and 20% in the Babraham Research Campus pre-accelerator, building commercialisation strategies for emerging translational research opportunities in both settings. This role reports to the Head of Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation, has line management responsibility for a KEC Officer and will be supported by the Knowledge Exchange Manager, Contracts Manager and the Director of Science & Entrepreneurship at the Babraham Research Campus.
Candidates should have a scientific background relevant to the Institute’s research, as well as strong evaluation, planning and project management skills, an understanding of Intellectual Property and a demonstrable ability to build collaborative relationships with scientists, managers and industry contacts. The successful candidate will have experience in successfully leading the exploitation of new translational opportunities through technology licensing, new spinout company formation, and/or industrial collaboration, showing the required potential to translate and develop our innovative bioscience research portfolio.
