Documentation and Bioinformatics Support Officer

The web production team run services that span internal as well external users. Our services are highly visible all over the world and support to users via an active helpdesk that has knowledge of the tools and services we provide. The successful candidate will be working with bioinformaticians and software engineers as well as with system administrators in a devops environment.

Your role:

The documentation relating to these services are live web documents that need to be written in clear English. Some sections will require translation into multiple languages (for example: Chinese, Korean, Russian), which will be coordinated by the helpdesk officer. Queries to the helpdesk vary from helping users with the usage of bioinformatic tools as well as helping users troubleshoot their data.

In addition to the helpdesk activities described above, the role involves supporting our internal users and their external collaborators with our team collaboration services, comprising Confluence, Jira and Gitlab, which are critical components of the institute's internal infrastructure.

You have:

• Knowledge of common bioinformatics tools.
• Ability to write technical documentation in other languages.
• Experience in using Confluence (atlassian.com) or similar (e.g. DokuWiki).
• Experience in using the Request Tracker helpdesk software or similar (e.g. Jira, Trac, osTicket).
