involve working closely with the synthetic biology team of the Microbial Engineering Division as well as with the
Colouration team, to coordinate work across the process. The fermentation assistant will be responsible for
preparing, running and collecting data from fermentation runs. They will also collect samples and carry out
analysis, along with subsequent data analysis and report writing, ensuring that batch records are maintained for all
runs. The fermentation assistant will be expected to contribute to the maintenance and efficient running of the
fermentation suite. They will be given responsibility for specific tasks and, after training, be expected to carry them
out independently e.g., media preparation, bioreactor prepping and cleaning, sampling, sample processing and
support in the data analysis. Longer-term there may be an opportunity to be trained in the use of HPLC equipment
and development of analytical methods.
