Genotyping and Regulatory Scientist - Molecular Biology

What we are looking for

The Company is looking for an enthusiastic, entry-level Scientist to join the Molecular team to support our genotyping and regulatory science efforts. With the support of the Genotyping lead, you will lead technical and scientific efforts regarding the characterization of gene edited plant material with a focus on data collation and presentation for submission to regulatory bodies.

The successful candidate will bring experience with both genome editing and diverse genotyping technologies, as the candidate will consult on and execute high-quality DNA-based molecular analysis. The scope of this role would also involve working alongside our expert Regulatory Science team, in a rapidly developing area of synthetic biology, with the potential for significant advancement within the field.

Key Roles and Responsibility

To align with the Genotyping Lead on the consultation and management of internal genotyping pipelines and molecular characterisation for submission to regulatory bodies
To support authoring of documents submitted to regulatory bodies, alongside our Regulatory Science team and Crop Team Leads
To support the development and implementation of QC and assurance processes including traceable laboratory records, raw data/stocks storage, and databases
To perform bench work and data analysis as required
To check and sign off all records (databases and laboratory e-notebooks) updated by the technicians assigned to their selected projects

Qualification, knowledge, and key skills

PhD in a relevant field (Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Medicine, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or closely related field) or extensive directly related industry experience
Broad experience with genome editing, including design and analysis of genome editing technologies
Experience with the design, implementation, and analysis of genotyping assays (qPCR, dPCR, TaqMan, PCR), including diverse sequencing technologies
Excellent organization skills
Strong and clear written and oral communication skills to allow the exchange of information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines and levels within the organization
Proficient in working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Fluent in English – speaking and writing
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment while consistently maintaining a positive and professional attitude
Good team player, strong execution, and flexibility to handle changes
